合肥至蚌埠高速铁路于10月16日正式开通运营。合肥至蚌埠高速铁路是京沪高铁与沪汉蓉客运专线间的高速连通线，也是北京至福州客运专线的组成部分。该项目于2009年1月开工建设，运营里程132公里，设计时速350公里，运营初期按时速300公里运行。合蚌高铁开通后，安排开行动车组列车15对，合肥至北京南最短运行时间3小时50分，比既有线旅客列车最短运行时间缩短5小时42分。合蚌高铁开通运营，不仅形成了合肥北上的快速通道，而且通过已投入运营的合宁、沪宁、合武高铁，把京广、京沪、沪汉蓉三条高铁主干线紧密连接起来，形成了我国中部腹地通往环渤海、长三角、珠三角地区的大能力快速客运通道。
Hefei-Bengbu high-speed railway has officially started operation on October 16. The Hefei-Bengbu railway connects to Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu Passenger Dedicated Line， and is a part of a longer route linking Beijing and Fuzhou. With an operating mileage of 132 kilometers， the line started construction in January， 2009. The designed speed was 350 km/h and at the early time of opening， the trains will run in the special railway at the speed of 300 km/h. After the operation of Hefei-Bengbu high-speed Railway， the travel time from Hefei to Beijing will be cut to within 4 hours from 9 hours and a half in the past. At the early time of operation， 15 pairs of high-speed trains run in the special railway. Through Hefei-Bengbu-， Hefei-Nanjing-， Shanghai-Nanjing- and Hefei-Wuhan high speed railway， the three high-speed rail-mainlines， Beijing-Guangzhou-， Beijing-Shanghai- and Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu high speed railway， closely link with each other now. And rail passengers?from provinces of central China will have a faster，?more convenient journey to the east region.
